What happens to my scores and handicap when I renew?

Your history stays with you

Renewing with the same GHIN number restores your account with the full scoring record and Handicap Index history intact — even after several years inactive. This is why we always recommend renewing your existing GHIN number rather than creating a new account.

Want a clean slate instead?

If your old scores no longer reflect your game, Member Services can remove them on request — contact us with your GHIN number and which scores (or years) you'd like removed.

Keep in mind: after clearing scores, you'll need to rebuild your record before a Handicap Index can be issued. An index requires at least 54 holes — three 18-hole rounds or six 9-hole rounds (or an equivalent combination).

When changes take effect

Score edits, deletions, and newly posted rounds are reflected in your Handicap Index after the overnight update — check your account the next morning.
