Tournament Registration Code of Conduct The Code of Conduct applies to all MGA-administered competitions, including USGA qualifying competitions, LIGA Championships/Qualifiers and WGA Championships/Qualifiers.
This policy is in effect as of April 27, 2023 and is subject to change at the discretion of the Rules & Competitions Committee throughout the season.
By submitting an entry for any MGA-administered competition, the player (and the player’s caddie) understands that their participation is at the sole discretion of the MGA. The MGA may reject an entry application, revoke an accepted application, expel a player and/or caddie from a competition or impose the penalties listed below, and the MGA Rules and Competitions Committee may suspend a player or caddie for future competitions. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the MGA, the host facility or the spirit of the game are grounds for such action.
Any of the following actions by an MGA Participant constitutes a violation of the MGA Code of Conduct and the player is liable for penalty:
- Abuse or disrespect of any kind, directed at staff, Rules officials, volunteers, Club staff, or other players.
- Damaging the golf course or club/association signage and equipment.
- Excessive club throwing.
- Incidents of unbecoming conduct as deemed by the MGA R&C Committee.
Penalties for Breaching MGA Code of Conduct
Any Code of Conduct violation will be liable to the following penalties at the Rules & Competitions Committee’s discretion. The Committee may provide a warning prior to imposing any penalty, unless the Committee considers the breach to be sufficiently serious that an immediate penalty is warranted.
- One-stroke Penalty
- General Penalty
- Disqualification
- Immediate Disqualification from the event where the violation occurs
